The fee also includes e-learning through the award winning online information system of Masaryk University and access to electronic versions of study materials and other digital resources.
The tuition fee does not cover room, board, insurance or the costs of student travel.

Scholarships and stipends at Masaryk University

All degree students at Masaryk University can use a wide range of study abroad scholarships to spend a semester at our European or overseas partner universities. See the Study-abroad Section of the Faculty website for more information. Each semester, there are also accommodation subsidies available as a small contribution to living costs. Direct subsidy for meals can be used in the canteens. Apart from this, the Faculty of Social Studies can offer stipends from its own fund, see below.

Faculty scholarships and stipends

The Faculty of Social Studies supports its best students by varied stipends - these are awarded for publications in impacted journals and activities contributing to the representation of the university. Besides, various mobility programs and scholarships to support study-abroad semesters and shorter periods are available. Students are informed about the scholarship programs regularly.

You can find all MU and FSS stipends summarized here: on FSS website here

Department scholarships

Besides, the Department of Sociology can offer a scholarship on the basis of its own criteria that fully or partly covers the tuition fee, but does not include other costs to the student such as travel, accommodation, board, books required for study courses, and other living expenses. Students become eligible to receive this scholarship after at least one semester of study at MU, given the conditions specified below – the deadline for the scholarship application is February 28.

All candidates must also fulfill the following conditions:

  • Your studies are not already funded by a scholarship
  • You have not received a grade below B in any compulsory course of your degree program
  • You have not been found guilty of an offense by the FSS Disciplinary Committee, and you do not currently have a case being considered by the Committee
  • You have no outstanding fees to be paid to the University
  • All eligible students of Cultural Sociology (including the Joint program) and Sociology programs can apply

The main criterion for the granting of the waiver is demonstrated academic achievement and progress toward completing the degree during the first two semesters.

Other tips for financing your studies

Since the English-taught programs are not subsidized by the Czech Ministry of Education, students are advised to seek support from sponsors and foundations.
